DIY Infinity Scarf

Sorry I haven’t updated you guys in a while. Life has been uber busy, like seriously non-stop. I’m still working on my online classes whenever I have free time. I’m super close to taking my midterm. I’ll probably take it by the end of the week. I can’t wait to finish Career Step and start my REAL job. :)

In the midst of all of life’s craziness, I was able to find some time to crochet an infinity scarf. I know, I know, it’s not really the right season for making these, but I’m planning on making them throughout the year. I want to have them ready to give away as gifts or sale for next fall/winter. It only took me about 2 hours to make. I’m excited about trying different patterns and designs as well!

Click here for the super cool blog that I found the pattern on. This blog has a ton of cool FREE patterns. If you like to crochet you should definitely check it out. If you don’t know how to crochet you can look up different video tutorials online. There are a ton out there, and crocheting is super easy to learn. I’m not just saying that. ;) My mom made me learn how when I was little, but I was never really interested until recently. Now I’m thankful that she taught me back in the day, because it all came back to me so quickly. (like riding a bike)

Anyway, here are the pictures. Let me know what you think. :)

Shopping Finds

Panera Bread in Shakopee, MN

Yesterday I got to hang out and go shopping with a dear friend of mine. We met at Panera Bread for lunch and caught up on life and her new job as a medical transcription editor. She really likes her new job because of its flexibility. She also encouraged me by telling me that Career Step really did prepare her for what they are requiring her to do for her job (click here for more info. on Career Step).

Next, we started SHOPPING. It’s been quite a while since I spent several hours shopping for things for myself. I loved every minute of it, and it made me realize how important it is to have a girl’s day every now and then. We started out by going to Charming Charlie’s. I found some beautiful earrings on the clearance rack there for $5.00.

Then we went to J.C Penny’s and Ross. I found the other three items that I purchased at Ross all for less than $40.00. Good prices are important to me lately because the husband and I have started envelope budgeting. It’s an excellent way to track where your money is going, but I’ll have another blog about that some other time. Here’s what I found at Ross!

I love these grey skinny jeans that I found, and they were only $13.00. You can’t beat that price!

These two shirts were both under $15.00 a piece, and I like how they are dressy casual. I’ve been needing more tops like this.

I liked my shopping finds so much that I decided to wear them to my brother-in-law’s birthday party that same night.

Where are some places that you like to shop for cute clothes? I’m always on the look out for good bargains! :)

Career Step

After I graduated from college and got married, I started thinking about possible job opportunities. I wanted something with very flexible hours, that would utilize my background in science, and that I could do in the future (after having children, moving, etc.). I became frustrated after several months of trying to find something, and I was about to give up until I heard about medical transcription editing. :)

Medical transcriptionists and medical transcription editors basically transcribe and edit doctors’ reports to be filed and sent to insurance companies. A medical transcription editor (MTE) is a vital part of the health care process. MTE’s are hired by companies that allow you to work from your house with flexible hours. All you need is a laptop and internet access. This is the main reason this job appealed to me.

After researching several programs/schools to enroll in, I found CAREER STEP to be the best choice for me. You can complete the course within 4 months if you work on it full time, but they allow you to access the course for a full year. So you can complete the training at your own pace. They offer a free laptop or ipad if you pay for your tuition in full, and they also offer a military spouse discount.

I’ve been working on the course for about a month now, and so far it has been really good! The course is geared towards people with a high school diploma. So, even though my background in science is helpful, anyone can complete the course. It’s very thorough, and I feel like I will be prepared for job placement immediately upon completion.

One of my close friends actually told me about Career Step and MTE. She completed the course and had a job within two weeks of graduating. She has just started her new job, and I’m actually going to hang out with her tomorrow to see how she’s liking it.

This is the unit that I am currently working on.

If anyone is interested in it here is a link to Career Step:

If you end up signing up for the course you can mention my referrer ID online or over the computer (ref28128) and receive a $50 discount. If you have any questions that you’d like to ask me before contacting the school you can email me at I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I can, and I hope you found this helpful.

I’ll be posting other blogs with career step/MTE updates, crafts, and food as this journey of life continues.
